Help Earthquake Survivors in Ecuador
Ecuador was struck by a devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake on Saturday, April 16th. The earthquake’s epicenter has left 6 coastal provinces in a state of emergency. Rescuers continue to search for victims who are trapped in collapsed buildings, while friends and family desperately dig with hands and shovels in an attempt to save loved ones. Over 500 people are confirmed dead, and more than 4,000 injured. These numbers are expected to rise as teams dig and pull out more victims. Some of the hardest hit areas are extremely difficult to reach due to heavily damaged roads.
GreaterGood.org is granting funds to partners who will be providing humanitarian assistance including medical aid, search and rescue operations, food, and shelter. First responders will desperately need supplies in the days and weeks ahead to continue their life-saving efforts. This is the worst earthquake to hit Ecuador in decades, and an immense amount of collaboration and aid will be required to help victims, many of whom have lost everything, including homes and loved ones.
