Stella’s Happy Ending

By Susan Rosenberg, Director of International Animal Programs

Stella, a 6-year-old Bloodhound, was used for breeding. Neighbors reported Stella’s poor condition to authorities. Friends of the Shelter received Stella and ran a thorough veterinarian exam on her. She was heartworm positive. She had entropion in one eye, along with tumors on her back. Poor Stella had two mammary growths. This sweet girl also had a significant mass growing around her trachea. Stella needed several surgeries, heartworm treatment and a lot of TLC.

Most noteworthy, despite Stella’s health issues, she is outgoing, friendly, and full of love to give!

How is Stella Now?

Thanks to YOUR generous donations, Stella had all of her necessary medical treatments and surgeries. She has recovered and now lives with a great family. Stella has settled into her new home in Michigan with her family that adores her. While Stella is still having thyroid issues, she’s doing well and will remain on meds from now on. Stella’s energy and appetite have all come back to a normal, loving 7-year-old dog. Without the surgeries, Stella would not be with us now.
