Roady Doesn’t Understand Why Anyone Would Hit Him With a Car and Drive Away

July 23 – July 29 is National Feed a Rescue Pet Week! One of the biggest expenses for shelters and rescue groups is feeding animals in their care. For many rescues, after food costs, they have little or nothing left in their budget for medical treatment, vaccines or other adoption programs. That’s where GreaterGood’s Rescue Bank program comes in—we ship donated food to rescue groups around the country to make sure their animals are well fed, and that they have extra money in their budget to help pets in desperate need—pets like Roady.

“Why would anyone do this to me?” – Roady

Roady is a young Great Dane mix who was hit by a car that did not stop. He didn’t know why something so awful happened or why there was no human to save him. For a week, people saw Roady limping around in the heat, but no one stopped to help. Finally, a Good Samaritan got close enough for animal control to pick him up. They reached out to Sanilac Scoopers Animal Rescue to ask if they could help. Roady went through surgery, weeks of hydrotherapy, and a ton of TLC. Through it all, he was unfailingly good-natured and affectionate with his handlers like the good boy he is.

Roady found a loving family and has a dog sibling from another rescue, who is now his BFF. He is living the good life and has left all memory of the car accident behind.

“GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank has been a great help because they not only provide food for our animals, but that serves to free up funds for much needed medical care.” – Sanilac Scoopers Animal Rescue
