Bandit the Brave

July 23 – July 29 is National Feed a Rescue Pet Week! One of the biggest expenses for shelters and rescue groups is feeding animals in their care. For many rescues, after food costs, they have little or nothing left in their budget for medical treatment, vaccines or other adoption programs. That’s where GreaterGood’s Rescue Bank program comes in—we ship donated food to rescue groups around the country to make sure their animals are well fed, and that they have extra money in their budget to help pets in desperate need—pets like Bandit.

Bandit and his brothers were from a cat family that lived on a farm and was inbred many, many times. Nanny’s Fur Kids (NFC) could never catch their mom to have her spayed. When they came to the rescue, Bandit always had eye infections and continuously needed eye drops. Bandit and his brother were adopted in January 2017. NFC always tell their adopters that if they don’t want them anymore, bring them back—no questions asked. Well, Bandit was brought back with one eye hanging out. They rushed him to the vet. The vet gave him all kinds of medicine to get the infection and swelling down. Still, he had to have the eye removed. The staff at the vet stayed after hours to help this boy.

Every dollar donated to Rescue Bank offsets $17 worth of expense for a rescue group. This National Feed a Rescue Pet Week, YOU can save more animals like Bandit by clicking here.

The vet kept Bandit for a few days to monitor him. He came back to the rescue with a patch on his eye. Over the next few weeks, his eye healed and one would never know he had an issue, except for an eye missing. Bandit is so lovable and spoiled as he waits for his forever family.

“Without the help from GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank, we could not have afforded all these vet bills. The donated food and litter gave us more funding to care for many medical vet bills. Each one of our feral cats has their own story. Without the help of Rescue Bank, we wouldn’t be able to take in any more ferals that deserve to be loved.” – Nanny’s Fur Kids
