Your Support Saved Countless Lives During and After Hurricane Harvey!
“The GreaterGood.org Hurricane Harvey grant allowed All Hands Volunteers to respond to communities devastated throughout Texas. This generous grant provided funding for transportation to and from sites for volunteers, team leads and staff. The Hurricane Harvey Response program spans across the state of Texas, with two bases in Houston and Aransas Pass. With sites spread out across these areas, reliable transportation is paramount in order to get work done. The teams heading out to a site every day to muck and gut damaged homes and sanitize to prepare for rebuild. Without transportation to sites, All Hands would be unable to help the most vulnerable families following disasters. All Hands is extremely grateful for the support of GreaterGood.org and your support for the people of Texas.
“Ms. Eileen, a retired homeowner in Houston, was living alone in her home of nearly 50 years when Hurricane Harvey hit. “I didn’t think it was going to come so fast. I didn’t see any water, so I went to lie down, and when I woke up, it was everywhere.” As Ms. Eileen had very little family to help her, she had been trying to clean her home by herself. All Hands and Hearts mucked-and-gutted and sanitized her home with a team led by one of our Team Leaders, Matt. “I just feel really blessed to be a part of All Hands and Hearts,” Matt said. “To be able to meet people like this – to have experiences with a complete stranger that quickly became family. She is family.” – All Hands Volunteers
