Taegan Leaves Abusive Life Behind for the Perfect Forever Home
By Jim Kober – Director of Content
Taegan was seen being savagely beaten and kicked as she was dragged down the street by an angry man. She was left to suffer alone on the side of a busy road in NW Detroit. Taegan was hurt so severely that her tiny body was twitching with seizures.
A concerned citizen contacted Home Fur-Ever Rescue. By the time volunteers arrived, Taegan had somehow managed to drag herself from the curb and into a nearby abandoned building. They discovered Taegan curled up in a ball, on a cold concrete floor, hiding behind discarded tires. She was quivering in pain and lying in her urine, which was tinged red with blood. She was critically injured and unable to walk. Home Fur-Ever volunteers scooped her up and rushed her to the closest emergency vet where she stabilized, received pain medication, and was then transported to a veterinary hospital to receive further treatment. Thankfully, she made a full recovery.
Taegan is now living the life that every animal deserves. After nearly being killed, she now knows unlimited love. She has a family that dotes on her and lives in a comfortable home with all the toys she could ever want and a bowl of food that is always full. She will never have to worry about being hurt, cold, or hungry again.
Thanks to GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank, Home Fur-Ever can feed approximately 100 dogs cared for in foster homes. Without fosters volunteering to care for and house the animals, Home Fur-Ever would not be able to rescue dogs. Home Fur-Ever’s veterinary bills are staggering, and it would not be possible to care for these animals and find them forever homes without Rescue Bank donated food.
