Max & Havoc to the Rescue

Spike’s K9 Fund is a national organization that serves active and retired working dogs (police, military, and search & rescue) and their families. A grant from GreaterGood.org, funded by the iHeartDogs.com community, made the purchase of five ballistic vests for police K9s to keep them safe while working. The vests are protecting dogs like Havoc and Max.

The vests have made a world of difference for Havoc and Max’s department. Because there was little to no funding for their K9 unit, the dogs went unprotected for years. Now, each handler and crew member can rest assured knowing their partner has extra protection while responding to every call of service.

“The Shirley Police Department K9 Unit is a self-funded unit. We currently keep our Unit funded by donations and fundraisers that we hold each year. The vests took a lot of concerns off of each handler. We are now able to deploy our K9s on tracks, clearing buildings, SWAT calls and any calls that require our K9s that may be a dangerous call. Before this donation, we were making these deployments and hoping that nothing would go wrong and happen to our K9s. We greatly appreciate the kind donation of the protective vests for our dual purpose K9s. They wear them proudly, and they fit each K9 perfect.” – Chief Pryor, Shirley Police Department, Indiana
