Hurricane Dorian Response
Thanks to Tito’s Handmade Vodka, the Vodka for Dog People, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000.
Hurricane Dorian has strengthened to a catastrophic Category 5 storm and is bearing down on the Bahamas. Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas are preparing for what could be the strongest hurricane in years. In preparation for the storm, GreaterGood.org has started working with our partners on the ground to deliver life-saving supplies for humans and pets.
Our disaster response team has shipped 500 crates from our partners at The Animal Rescue Site for multi-organization use for pre-storm evacuations of adoptable pets and for relief flights after the storm. This will allow for critical space in shelters during the storm and facilitate reunification between families and their pets. They are also coordinating and supporting the actual transport of pre-storm shelter pets.
Twenty pallets of food and five pallets of Fresh Step kitty litter will be delivered to the Florida State Animal Response Coalition for use in co-located shelters, to serve public needs, and for the shelters themselves.
In addition to food, our team will deliver veterinary pharmaceuticals to agencies in the path of the storm, such as flea and tick medication, heartworm medication, and vaccines from our partners at Boehringer Ingelheim to treat thousands of pets in affected areas.
We are currently fielding requests from our human services partners and are responding in real-time. Please stay tuned as we continue to serve the animals and people in peril. Updates will be added here as they come in.
