The ongoing conflict has put extraordinary pressure on Ukraine's healthcare system. Hospitals already strained by daily operations now face added challenges—trauma cases from shelling, facility damages, and skyrocketing demand for basic supplies.
To help bridge these critical gaps, Greater Good Charities partnered with Razom for Ukraine to deliver medical supplies to hospitals in need. This essential support helps ensure that patients receive dignified, effective care despite the tremendous obstacles Ukrainian medical teams face every day.
Ukrainian hospitals often rely on federal funding for daily operational supplies. However, the war has diverted many of these funds toward emergency repairs and trauma care, leaving facilities short of basic necessities like patient comfort care and sterilization items.
Meanwhile, individual patients—many living on extremely limited incomes—cannot afford to purchase their own medical supplies. In these circumstances, even small items like pre-operative brushes and disinfecting wipes become luxuries that many hospitals struggle to provide.
Through this grant and partnership, Greater Good Charities and Razom for Ukraine have delivered critical resources, boosting the capacity of hospitals to care for their patients while also demonstrating to the Ukrainian people that the world stands with them.
Dr. Alexander Lobomirovich Bats, a surgeon, described how vital the humanitarian aid has been:
“In the work of the surgeon, it is most important to have the opportunity to help patients quickly, with high quality, and safety. When it comes to urgent events, every minute, every tool, and every detail has meaning. Each box [of humanitarian goods] is a part of care and support that we feel every day. That is why the humanitarian assistance our hospital received from the charity fund Razom for Ukraine became not just useful for us - it became critical for our lives.”
One of his patients, Andriy—a military service member—was left bedridden after suffering severe injuries. For patients like Andriy, having access to appropriate medicines, sterile supplies, and basic hygiene items makes an incredible difference. These "small things" offer comfort, dignity, and the tangible reminder that they are not alone in their fight to heal.
Sterile alcohol wipes and surgical brushes, provided through the grant, also significantly reduced the risk of postoperative infections—improving outcomes for countless patients at the hospital.
In the face of unimaginable hardship, Ukrainian healthcare workers continue to deliver life-saving care every day. Thanks to your generous donations, and the partnerships with incredible organizations like Razom for Ukraine, hospitals across Ukraine are receiving the supplies they need to heal, comfort, and save lives.
Together, we are showing that even in the darkest times, compassion and solidarity shine through.
