There are an estimated 3 million stray dogs and cats roaming in Greece. These innocent pets are starving, scared, and because of illness, many are dying without ever knowing the love and comfort of a safe home. 

In late 2023, Greater Good Charities was approached by groups working in the city of Xanthi, Northern Greece, to assist in the support of hundreds of dogs surviving in and around a municipal rubbish site. Since then, working alongside our community partners we have been able to provide food, specialist medical care, fund high-quality spay-neuter services, and support foster and adoption for dozens of dogs. 

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are in the process of deepening our commitment to the dogs of Xanthi, ensuring every pet has the support it needs. We are also expanding our reach to several new areas within Greece, supporting both cats and dogs in need and we need your help.
