Currently, 2.4 million undernourished children are fed every day in feeding programs throughout Haiti by utilizing surplus foods from the U.S. and Canada. While this is a step forward in hunger relief, it has had a negative effect on the Haitian working community, depriving them of jobs and limiting economic growth for the country.
For years, Greater Good Charities has been providing families in Haiti with egg-laying chickens.Through this program, farmers can feed their own families and produce a surplus to be sold and redistributed to a local school, Institute Edeline, to provide relief for malnourished children.
UPDATE Since the Global Pandemic: In the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, the realities of the pandemic are hitting extremely hard. We want to continue providing these students and families with weekly eggs in their food packets that will be their main source of protein! Now you can make your donation go even farther!
You can help families in Haiti with the gift of food and income security. We need YOUR help now!
Greater Good Charities has ultimate authority and discretion with regard to the distribution of its funds. All expenditures made are consistent with the exempt purposes of Greater Good Charities.
