Millions of individuals experience domestic abuse in their lifetimes. For survivors with pets, nearly 71% report that abusers have threatened, injured, or killed their animals. Yet fewer than 1 in 5 domestic violence shelters can accommodate pets, forcing many survivors to face an impossible choice: leave their pets behind or remain in danger together.

For Utahns fleeing domestic violence, knowing that a beloved pet is also safe can make all the difference. That's why we’re building pet retreats to expand shelter inclusion and help more survivors and pets heal.
