Endangered Species Act Rolled Back: Protect Sea Turtles this Earth Month
There are seven species of sea turtles throughout the entire world. Six out of seven species are either threatened or endangered.
Now, the Endangered Species Act has been rolled back over the Gulf of Mexico, stripping protections from all oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico permanently, and putting sea turtles at even more risk. Legal experts are calling it the broadest exemption in the law's history.
This Earth Month, you can help protect endangered sea turtles. We safeguard this species in four important ways:
-
Protect Nesting Areas
-
Rescue cold-stunned turtles
-
Fly medically stable turtles to rehabilitation facilities so they can continue recovery
-
Provide medical care to injured and hypothermic turtles
-
Support the release of rehabilitated turtles.
Donate now to rescue, treat, and transport sea turtles to safety. Stay tuned for a sea turtle release this month for turtles that are recovered to go back into the wild!
