Help Save the Asian Elephant with Project Peril
save-the-elephant-day-ig

Over the past three decades, Asian Elephant populations have declined by at least 50%.

Due to deforestation and human expansion for agriculture and infrastructure, elephants have lost almost two-thirds of their habitat across Asia. Weighing over 11,000 pounds, these majestic creatures need a lot of room to roam and plants to eat. This large-scale habitat loss increases the conflict between elephants and humans, leading to hundreds of human and elephant deaths every year. As their habitats shrink, elephants are forced into human areas, where they are killed, poached, or captured. In captivity, these highly sensitive and social animals are often chained and exploited in the logging, trekking, and tourism industries.

Much of this tragedy is due to human population growth. Elephants are also major targets for poachers and are killed for their ivory tusks, meat, and hides.

You can help us protect Asian elephants. Your gift will support our work to secure habitat for elephants, reduce human-elephant conflicts, and halt the ivory trade.
