Protect Giant Anteaters—and the People Who Share Their Roads
In Brazil’s Cerrado biome, giant anteaters are among the top species killed in vehicle collisions. As expanding highways cut through their habitats, these accidents have become deadly—for both wildlife and drivers.
Greater Good Charities is partnering with ICAS, a leading wildlife conservation organization in Brazil, to change that. Through the Anteaters and Highways Project, the team is working to reduce roadkill fatalities, gather critical movement data, and improve road planning to make highways safer for all.
They’re also advancing conservation through habitat management, community education, and groundbreaking research—including monitoring the world’s only known wild albino anteater.
