Hurricane Ida hit the southern Louisiana coast as a massive Category 4 storm Sunday morning, bringing sustained winds over 150 mph, life threatening storm surge, and widespread flooding. The region’s power grid was ravaged, leaving over one million residents in the dark with no clear timeline as to when power will return. These communities now face the dangerous prospect of weeks without power in stifling, late-summer heat.

Greater Good Charities is already responding. We have moved over 150 shelter pets out of harm's way. We're sending in medications, Good Packs full of survival supplies, and other critically needed items to our animal shelter and human services partners. We stand ready to send in additional support. But we can’t do it without you.

Your donation will fund these emergency relief efforts, providing cash grants, medication, food, and more to vulnerable people and pets. Rush your donation now to help victims of this terrible storm.

Hurricane Ida made landfall as a massive Category 4 storm along the southern Louisiana coast Sunday morning, on the 16 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. It brought sustained winds over 150 miles per hour, life threatening storm surge, and widespread flooding. New Orleans has issued mandatory evacuations and the governor has declared a state of emergency for Louisiana.

The region’s power grid was ravaged by the hurricane, leaving over one million residents in the dark with no clear timeline as to when power will return. Officials believe this blackout could last for over a month. Because of this, these communities now face a new danger: the possibility of weeks without power in stifling, late-summer heat. People and pets in the region need your help now.

Greater Good Charities is already responding. We have moved over 150 adoptable shelter pets who were in shelters before Ida hit out of harm's way, clearing room for an influx of displaced pets in the area. We are sending in medications, Good Packs full of survival supplies, and other critically needed items to our animal shelter and human services partners. As we field requests for help from our partners in the state, we stand ready to send additional supplies and support in. But we can’t do it without you.

Your donation will fund these desperately needed emergency relief efforts, providing cash grants, medication, food, and more to vulnerable people and pets who need it most. Rush your donation now to help victims of this terrible storm.
