Help Protect the Most Threatened Feline in the Americas

High in Argentina's Andes Mountains lives the Andean cat — the most threatened wild cat in the Americas.

Listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, fewer than 1,400 adults are believed to remain in the wild. And we just caught rare sightings of multiple cats on wildlife cameras just north of Argentina’s La Payunia Preserve - one of the only confirmed sightings in years.

These small cats spend their days hidden among sun-warmed rocks and their nights hunting the Southern viscacha, using their long tails for balance as they leap across sheer cliffs. Their camouflaged coats make them nearly impossible to find.

Help Protect Critical Habitats

Argentina is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, and it’s home to thousands of plant and animal species. As the country experiences increased deforestation, droughts, and flooding, it’s more important than ever that we protect this special pocket of Earth. 

That’s why Greater Good Charities' has partnered with the Wildlife Conservation Society to protect more than 150,000 acres of land in the Province of Mendoza. 

This area is home to the threatened Andean Condor, endangered Andean Cat, Darwin’s Rhea, Puma, Mountain viscachas, and grey and culpeo foxes.
