Building Safe, Pet-Friendly Spaces When They’re Needed Most

Greater Good Charities’ Construction Team creates pet-friendly spaces in animal shelters, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, and wildlife sanctuaries—so people in crisis never have to choose between safety and the animals they love. Through hands-on, volunteer-driven renovation projects and specialized training, we improve adoption areas, elevate quality of life, and make it possible for more families to stay together during their most vulnerable moments.

This year, our team is heading to One Albuquerque, the city’s largest homeless shelter, which serves hundreds of people each night and proudly welcomes pets alongside their people. We’ll be enhancing the shelter with dedicated dog play yards, outdoor kennels, a grooming sink, and other essential improvements. These upgrades give animals space to decompress, allow families to spend meaningful time together, and create a safer, more comfortable, and more sustainable environment for everyone.
