YOU Helped Workers Affected by the Government Shutdown

Written by GGC | Jan 31 2019

For the moment, the government shutdown is over, though workers who were furloughed or working without pay are certain to feel the consequences of going a month without pay and will still need assistance for quite some time. Thanks to YOUR generous donations to our Rescue Bank* program, we can provide pet food to these workers in multiple cities and states including Washington D.C., Maryland, Colorado, Florida, and Arizona.

Thank you, Chewy.com!

Greater Good Charities’ Rescue Bank* is partnering with Chewy.com to provide free pet food to those in need all over the country. Over the weekend, we were on the ground at Cody’s Friends Charity who organized a fantastic event in Arizona to distribute this food to government employees affected by the shutdown and community members in need. The event was a huge success, and we had the chance to hear from many of these government workers. One of these employees with a steady government job and pets that her and her husband love dearly shared:

I have several dogs. You don’t know how much of a help this is to me. People think the shutdown is over, but I haven’t been officially called back to work yet. I don’t consider it over until I get a paycheck. We’ve already exhausted our savings. Thank you!

Thanks to YOU, Greater Good Charities is There When It Matters™ for these families and pets in their time of need. No one should have to work without pay or miss out on paychecks. We feel honored to help in any way possible.
