We are thrilled to hear about the recent development of embryos to bring back the functionally extinct northern white rhinos! There is something to be said about the power of focused intention and motivation to solve a problem. This news is a beacon of hope for the global conservation community and the fate of the rhinos around the world.
Over the past 40 years, the rhino population has dropped over 95%. Every year, billions of dollars worth of rhino horn are traded on the black market, driven by a false belief that rhino horn has special healing properties. Now, all five rhino species are threatened with extinction.
Greater Good Charities, through Project Peril, has done some great work with our partners to ensure rhinos don’t go extinct.
Here are just a few ways your donations to Project Peril have impacted the rhino species:
Delilah and her mother, Ratu
Goose in his foot cast
Black rhino calf Meimei
Break-through developments like these mean what we do matters. Every accomplishment -- big or small -- is a step in the right direction. That’s why it’s so important we continue our efforts to protect endangered species and combat the threat of extinction.
