Emergency Packs: Essential Aid for People and Pets in Crisis

Greater Good Charities delivers Emergency Packs filled with survival and comfort supplies to people facing crises around the globe, including domestic violence survivors, veterans, families in the midst of war and disaster, and people experiencing homelessness.

Built for Every Kind of Crisis

Every situation is different. Emergency Packs are built to meet the specific needs of the individuals and families who receive them: disaster relief supplies for communities recovering from hurricanes, floods, and wildfires; emergency essentials for domestic violence survivors fleeing to safety; and day-to-day survival supplies for people experiencing homelessness.

This includes items such as a warm blanket, socks, soap, shampoo, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and a reusable water bottle. We also provide pet food and supplies for those with animals, ensuring that people don't have to separate from their pets during crisis.

DPs and IDPs during war time

On February 24, 2022, Russia started a war with neighboring Ukraine, invading the country on several fronts, attacking civilian targets, and perpetrating large scale destruction.

Over 7.7 million people, many with pets, have fled Ukraine, while an estimated 8 million people were displaced within the country by late May. More than 4.5 million Ukrainians have returned to Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion. Over and above these staggering numbers, millions more people and pets are stranded within their homes in or near conflict-affected areas.

Greater Good Charities is committed to the long-term support of displaced Ukrainian people and their pets, both those outside the country and those displaced internally. Our response has included the distribution of thousands of Good Packs since the war began.

Vulnerable Veterans

Over 33,000 veterans experienced homelessness in January 2022. Although this number has dropped from the 2020 numbers, 33,000 individuals that have served our country is too many. Our Good Packs aims to support veterans experiencing homelessness or those in transitional housing.

Domestic Violence Survivors

One in four women and one in nine men experience intimate partner violence. Our Good Packs help people fleeing domestic violence get basic supplies they need on their journey to safety together.

People experiencing homelessness

Due to the lasting effects of COVID-19, it was reported in 2021 the number of unsheltered individuals with chronic patterns of homelessness increased by 20%. The most recent report by HUD, where there was full participation in survey activities, shows around 569,000 people were experiencing homelessness in the United States. Good Packs provide basic necessities to help keep people healthy during these challenging. times.

The recent increases in the number and devastation of natural disasters has caused hundreds of thousands of people and they have to flee their homes with just the clothes on their back. Good Packs provide respite in these uncertain times.

The most recent report by HUD shows around 745,000 people were experiencing homelessness on a single night in January 2025, a 3.4% decrease from 2024 but still a 27% increase since 2013.

Many homeless shelters are full to capacity, leaving unhoused people unable to seek housing services. Other unhoused individuals can't use sheltering services because they have a pet and most shelters do not accommodate pets, or they choose not to seek services.

Emergency Packs provide basic necessities to help keep people healthy during these challenging times.

Natural disasters

Natural disasters are increasing in frequency and severity. In 2025, the U.S. saw 23 separate billion-dollar weather and climate disasters, striking roughly every 16 days over the past decade, compared to once every 82 days in the 1980s. Each disaster can force thousands of people to flee their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs.

Emergency Packs provide essential disaster relief supplies to people displaced by hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters, delivering aid quickly when it's needed most, so families can meet their basic needs while rebuilding their lives.
