URGENT NEED: provide medical care for burned wildlife

This summer, Brazil experienced its worst wildfire season on record. The flames consumed 5 million hectares of the Pantanal, the world's largest wetland.

Endangered and at-risk species, including jaguars, macaws, and tapirs, perished in the fires or were badly injured. Those who managed to escape suffered from intense burns and smoke inhalation.

Greater Good Charities is partnering with teams on the ground to provide lifesaving medical care to jaguars and tapers who were injured during the fires. Donate now to save these endangered species.

itapira's story

Itapira was born in the wild after her mother was successfully rehabilitated and released back into her habitat. She is resilient and has shown extraordinary strength and bravery in her homeland of the southern Pantanal.

When the wildfires broke out, Itapira was spotted lying motionless in a drainage pipe. The medical team waited a day to see if her condition would improve, but ultimately they decided to sedate her and perform a rescue. She had burns all her paws, was severely dehydrated, and could not survive on her own.

She needs urgent medical care to recover. Please help provide this emergency treatment!

the importance of the pantanal

The Pantanal is the largest wetland on Earth and is a global hotspot. It's home to more than 5,500 plant species, 463 bird species, and 132 mammals. Many of these are endangered, such as the jaguar.

This crucial ecosystem has lost 5 million hectares of land to wildfires this year alone, putting countless endangered animals at risk. Help us protect endangered species and their habitat by donating now.
