Sweet as Pie: Molly’s Save a Heart Journey

Meet Molly. This three-year-old retriever mix approaches every day with the warm, golden-hearted energy that makes “sweet as pie” the only way to describe her.

She’s the kind of dog to fit seamlessly into a busy home and make everyone in it feel like winners simply because she’s there.

Molly’s favorite things? She has excellent taste: a game of catch in the yard, a lazy sunbathing session, a snuggle at the end of a long day.

This special girl is ready to share beautiful moments like these with a forever family. But she’s asymptomatic heartworm-positive, a barrier to adoption.

Fortunately, Molly started her heartworm treatment with our shelter partner in Alabama, and soon she’ll finish it—1,100 miles away!

Molly is taking off along with about 80 other shelter pets on a Greater Good Charities Save a Heart flight from the South to New Jersey this September. Once she arrives, she’ll complete heartworm treatment, find a loving home, and live a heart-healthy life.

We're working to save thousands of dogs like Molly through our Save a Heart flights. Generously sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, this initiative provides heartworm-positive dogs with critical veterinary care, heartworm disease prevention, and transportation from overburdened shelters to loving arms.
