Community in Action: Asheville Humane Society and Greater Good Charities Respond to Hurricane Helene

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, communities across North Carolina have faced devastating challenges. The Asheville Humane Society (AHS), with support from Greater Good Charities, has become a vital hub for both people and pets in need. Jen, AHS’s Director of Operations, recently spoke with us about the difficult task of keeping their shelter pets safe while also responding to the broader needs of their community.

AHS has faced immense challenges, but with the dedication of their incredible team, generous donor support, and partnership with Greater Good Charities, we've been able to provide more than just shelter for pets. Together, we've delivered essential supplies and relief to families and pets affected by the storm.

Through this collaboration, Greater Good Charities has played a key role in ensuring critical resources reach the community when they need it most.

Delivering Aid to Those Who Need It Most

Greater Good Charities has delivered over $7.8 million worth of aid across 5 states, to more than 50 of the hardest-hit communities after Hurricanes Helene and Milton. This relief effort has included food, water, hygiene products, pet supplies, and specialized support for beekeepers affected by the storms.

Our collaboration with AHS is a testament to the power of working together to meet urgent needs. With our teams working together tirelessly on the ground and our resources helping to sustain these efforts, we are making a meaningful impact in the lives of people and pets in the Asheville area and beyond.
