Flash floods devastate Central Texas: Support in the aftermath
What began as a July 4th celebration weekend quickly turned into a desperate fight for survival as flash floods tore through Central Texas. In a matter of hours, rivers surged and entire neighborhoods disappeared under water.
In Kerr County alone, more than 100 billion gallons of rain fell—gutting homes, submerging vehicles, and washing away bridges. The Guadalupe River rose nearly 30 feet in minutes, cutting off critical access points and taking campgrounds, summer camps, and residents by surprise.
As of this writing, more than 120 people have died and over 170 remain missing.
Towns cut off, power unstable, and families searching for loved ones
In Hunt and Ingram, floodwaters isolated entire communities. Roads were impassable, and power outages left thousands in the dark. Water advisories were put into place as crews worked to assess damage.
Residents are now navigating widespread devastation across the area, while many families are still searching for missing loved ones.
