Ongoing Aid for Hurricanes Helene and Milton: Stories of Recovery and Relief
Greater Good Charities is committed to providing ongoing aid to communities affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. While the immediate aftermath of a disaster is critical, long-term recovery efforts are just as vital to rebuilding lives and communities.
Since the hurricanes, Greater Good Charities has been working alongside local partners to deliver essential resources and assistance to families, pets, and animals.
Ongoing Essential Aid Deliveries
As communities continue to recover, Greater Good Charities has been delivering vital aid to families and animals still struggling after the hurricanes. With many families losing their vehicles due to flooding, it’s often impossible for them to access essential supplies. In these situations, we work closely with local organizations to ensure that neighbors and volunteers could pick up food and supplies for those in need.
Many families have expressed how our regular distributions of pet food have made it possible for them to stay connected to the outside world. One single mother shared that by saving money on dog food, she was able to keep her cell phone bill paid, allowing her to stay informed about life-saving updates during and after the storm. These small acts of support have made a profound difference in helping families navigate the difficult recovery.
Continued Humanitarian and Animal Welfare Aid
- Greater Good Charities has mobilized 140 trucks delivering over $8.7 million worth of aid to 50 communities across the Southeast, including remote and hard-to-reach areas. This effort involves more than 20 national and local partners to amplify our impact and provide much-needed resources for those affected by the hurricanes.
- Our field operations team has been continuing to purchase and distribute emergency supplies, including food, water, hygiene products, and pet supplies.
- In addition to providing direct aid to families, Greater Good Charities has been helping beekeepers impacted by the hurricanes. We’ve provided over 60,000 gallons of syrup and 62,000 pounds of pollen substitute to sustain over 264,000 hives (10.5+ billion bees)—vital for maintaining local ecosystems and food production.
