Daily Meals for Vulnerable, Displaced Burmese Children
Mae Tao Clinic is a perfect example of an integrated GreaterGood partner serving the health, hunger and education needs of Burmese Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) in the northwestern border town of Mae Sot, Thailand. IDP’s are people forced to flee their home but remain in surrounding country borders. Often referred to as refugees, they do not fall within the legal definition of a refugee and therefore receive even less assistance than refugees do. Mae Sot is a sanctuary for many Burmese refugees in their flight from the upheaval of civil war in their country. Thanks to GreaterGood donors Mae Tao Clinic was able to provide daily meals to 2,093 children living along the Thailand-Burma border this past year. A total of over 200,000 meals!
